Berend Strik, Thixotropy
One Architecture and Berend Strik are working together currently in the St. Jozef project and have worked together on multiple projects in the past. The most substantial STRIK PUBLICATION to date will be released on June 13, 2009: ‘Berend Strik, Thixotropy. Transfixed, Stitched Photographs’. Matthijs Bouw wrote one of the articles for this book. The work of Berend Strik is situated in a twilight zone in terms of discipline. The basis consists of photos, either found or taken by Strik, which have been modified with threads, gauze and other materials. The starting point of Thixotropy are the embroidered photos, as a point of entry for grasping the meanings of the entire oeuvre. Texts by others and by Berend Strik himself analyse and interpret a range of different perspectives, aspects and strategies. Matthijs Bouw is one of the authors of Thixotropy. Other authors: Sophie Berrebi, Laurie Cluitmans, Antje von Graevenitz, Laura van Grinsven, Gertrud Sandqvist, Berend Strik.

About us
One Architecture is an Amsterdam based architecture and planning firm run by Matthijs Bouw. One Architecture uses design and strategic thinking to reduce complexity and to bring people together, in terms of process and engagement, in space and in beautiful environments. One’s work includes: architecture, urbanism, planning and more. One Architecture’s approach has resulted in successful projects which include the much discussed design for Les Halles in Paris (with OMA and XDGA) in 2004, urban plans for Gouda, Deventer and Tbilisi (Georgia) and the realization of Health Center Jozef in Deventer. Matthijs Bouw regularly publishes articles on One Architecture’s practice and ideas. Currently we are working, amongst others, on several health care buildings, a number of urban renewal projects and the Olympic Framework for the Dutch bid on the games in 2028.
