New World of Learning
Related to the new world of work, One Architecture was asked to develop a vision on the new world of learning, commissioned by Kennisnet. In the new world of learning education is technology-based and therefore not depending on the flexibility of boring classrooms without identity. One Architecture developed a vision based on the pupil as the central figure. The student can log on to the digital classroom anywhere and anytime, so the actual school-building can become much smaller and classrooms will be freed from limiting requirements of flexibility and multi-purpose use. Now these classrooms can become truly characterful spaces. In the new world of learning school and city are strongly connected. Students can choose his own hours of learning and students will use the entire city for their learning process; library, theatre, sportsclub and hospital. Our vision will be presented during the Onderwijsdagen in November.

About us
One Architecture is an Amsterdam based architecture and planning firm run by Matthijs Bouw. One Architecture uses design and strategic thinking to reduce complexity and to bring people together, in terms of process and engagement, in space and in beautiful environments. One’s work includes: architecture, urbanism, planning and more. One Architecture’s approach has resulted in successful projects which include the much discussed design for Les Halles in Paris (with OMA and XDGA) in 2004, urban plans for Gouda, Deventer and Tbilisi (Georgia) and the realization of Health Center Jozef in Deventer. Matthijs Bouw regularly publishes articles on One Architecture’s practice and ideas. Currently we are working, amongst others, on several health care buildings, a number of urban renewal projects and the Olympic Framework for the Dutch bid on the games in 2028.
