Lectures Matthijs Bouw

In the month of October Matthijs Bouw will be lecturing at several locations both in Amsterdam and in the United States:

October 2nd Urban Governance & Liveable Cities (VROM & NIROV) Workshop DRO Amsterdam. This workshop will investigate -amongst others- the atypical case of Tblisi, Georgia, where a radical shift has been made from Moscow-based central planning to free market privatised planning. Undesired side-effects of both overcentralized and hyper-free market models are being magnified in the real-life laboratory case of Tblisi. What do we recognize of that in the governance of our own city regions? Can we distinguish better from good - and how do we get there? Facilitators to include:
· Henk Ovink (Director of National Spatial Planning, VROM)
· Anwar Shah (lead economist and program leader with the Public Sector Governance group at the World Bank Institute, Washington)
· Representatives of the City of Tblisi / Matthijs Bouw
· Maarten Van Poelgeest, Alderman Spatial Planning, Amsterdam
