Ein Hawd Resort
In the F.A.S.T. alternative masterplan for this Palestinian village, a resort is proposed at Ein Hawd’s most beautiful spot. One Architecture and Concern have made a space where visitors can contemplate the (social, political, cultural) landscape of Ein Hawd. At the site, a proposal for an environmentally sensitive cabin is presented.
The first houses in Ein Hawd were adobes. The proposal for the guest house is based on the same technique.
The use of this material, combined with wood, ensures optimal thermic comfort. Indeed, these ‘breathing’ materials offer a smart cooling and heating capacity due to their good inertia.
A wind tower is put in place and operates as a natural climatizing device. The cool air is sucked down the house while the warm air exits on the other side, managing a continuous ventilation. The water retaining system enables the collection of rain water for agricultural use.
The outside space is being just as important as the inside, the overflowing of the heart-shaped roof projects a heart-shaped shade on the terrace. The soft englobing shape of the house gives the cabin a certain privacy. It focuses the eye on what’s essential: the mountains, the sea, the beauty.
In the near future, a first prototype will be built. In the longer term, a resort, as proposed in the alternative masterplan, is envisaged on the site of the platform.
In this resort, the landscaping and the use of greenery complement the ecological quality of the guest houses.
