Tbilisi Riverside Plaza
Over the next ten years, One is masterplanning a series of connected sites on the north side of the Mtkvari River, into a single integral project, Riverside Plaza.
In order to shield the site from both the noise and fumes of the cars racing alongside the Mtkvari, and to create a link to the river, a cover over the highway will be constructed, using the drop in the landscape. Below the new terrace, there are two storeys of parking space, both with direct access to the main road. The urban oasis thereby created will offer a link to the walkway and provide extensive and high quality public and green spaces.
This way, the masterplan for a mixed-use neighborhood will embed the new development within the spatial, cultural and social structure of Tbilisi’s Left Bank, the part of the city which originated in Tbilisi’s cultural and economic heyday, around 1900, with beautiful art-deco and neo-classical buildings and tree-lined streets. Across from and linked to Republic square, Riverside Plaza will become Tbilisi’s prime commercial and residential location.
