One Architecture

Wankdorf

For the new Swiss National Stadium, One Architecture invented the vertically moving pitch, allowing the stadium to adapt to the business realities of football.

The offices, mall, multiplex and hotel are developed from the edge of the site. All program is entered from the main street, in an effort to enhance the feeling of safety at night around the site. By keeping these structures as low as possible, the stadium, with slightly asymmetrical stands (because of urbanistic considerations), remains clearly visible from the neighboring streets. The roof is used as a grand concourse for the second tier of the stadium.
